Why MTN Refused To Renew My Contract - Timaya opens up

The king of dance hall Music In Nigeria , Timaya, has revealed the reason behind his decision not to renew his endorsement deal with telecommunications giants, MTN.

MTN had released a list of its ambassador that renewed their deals last week and Timaya wasn't listed among the array of celebrities, sparkling rumuors on why he was left out.

However, the self-acclaimed Egberipapa 1 of Bayelsa revealed the main reason why he pulled out of the deal in a recent interview with Punch's Saturday Beats.

Timaya claims he didn't have any issues with MTN, but wanted a better deal.

"I have always wanted to become an ambassador to a telecommunications company and I was approached by both Globacom and MTN. I chose MTN. I am a businessman and I feel I should have a better deal this year. If the deal is not good enough for me, then it is not right because I worked very hard to get to the stage I am. It could be right for other people but I think I should do better this year.

There are some artistes that are brand ambassadors and they do not have any hit song. They are just there based on pity. Every year, I release a hit song and I feel if we are to renew a contract, we have to revisit the terms and conditions.

Not that we would do the same thing as the last time or do it out of pity. Being a brand ambassador makes you limited in some certain areas and I expect to be paid for such limitations. I want more. They are good people and we did not have any misunderstanding. It was purely a business decision," Timaya said.

It's no secret that Meek Mill loves dirt biking-- he's been seen on bikes in his and Rick Ross' "I'ma Boss" video, and more recently, Nicki Minaj's "The Night Is Still Young" clip-- and now he'll fulfill what is probably a lifelong dream and get his own biking video game. Announced via his Instagram, the game is called "Bike Life" and will be available to purchase on the Apple app store and Android's Google Play store.

Right now, we don't know too much else about the forthcoming app, other than the fact that it has an X Games tie-in and was made by Dreamchasers and IM3 Gaming Studios.

Man Sets Self Ablaze after Failed Attempt to Kill Mother in Umuahia (photo)

A 25-year-old man, Tochukwu Madu, has set himself ablaze after a failed attempt to kill his mother with a cutlass.

The tragedy, which occurred on Wednesday, also led to the razing of their bungalow situated on No. 12 Bonny Street in Umuahia, Abia State.

Part of the building, located at the heart of the state capital, serves as stores for traders, who have converted the street to a mini-market after the relocation of the Umuahia Main Market from a nearby location to Ubani.

According to an eyewitness and a tenant in the building, Mrs. Precious Madu, the culprit, a notorious Indian hemp smoker, attacked the mother around 10:30 pm after locking her up in their two-room
apartment.

Another source said he inflicted several deep cuts in the mother's head and upper arm until she slumped and pretended to be dead before he left her to kill their dog, which was barking inside the compound.

But before he could return to complete his mission on the mother, the woman had managed to escape through the window.

The culprit was said to have made a move to slaughter his elder brother whom he had also locked up in another room, but the brother was smart enough to escape through the ceiling.

The police were quickly alerted by neighbours who noticed the strange development.

When the police arrived the scene and started searching for the suspect, he was said to have disappeared into one of the rooms in their house where he securely locked up himself.

He was said to have poured fuel on himself and set himself on fire that also gulped the entire building.
"As the police were looking for him and could not see him, what we noticed suddenly was that smoke started coming out from one of the rooms. Before it was broken, the whole house was already up in flames. When finally, the door to the room was broken, he was found burning and efforts to save him proved abortive as he died immediately as a result of severe burns," the source said.
Mrs. Madu (tenant), who said she lost all her property to the inferno, appealed to the government and public-spirited individuals to come to her rescue and that of other tenants, adding that nobody could save a pin from the house.

When Southern City News visited the scene of the incident on Thursday, charred cloths and tailoring materials were observed in one of the rooms, which served as a workshop for a tailor. The rooms were also littered with burnt household items and personal belongings while the roof of the house was damaged by fire.

Meanwhile, the mother is currently hospitalised at the intensive care unit of the Federal Medical Centre, Umuahia, where doctors are still battling to save her life, following deep machete cuts inflicted on her by the deranged son.

An officer of the state fire services, Mr. Chukwuemeka Okezie, who helped to put out the fire, told a correspondent that if not for the timely intervention of his men, the fire would have spread to other buildings in the neighborhood.

He called for quick and united action against drug abuse and Indian hemp consumption, especially among youths and observed that drug abuse had been on the increase nationwide.

When contacted, the Police Public Relations Officer, Mr. Ezekiel Onyeke, confirmed the incident, describing it as 'very unfortunate'.

Onyeke said the wounded mother had been responding to treatment and appealed to parents to report any of their children or wards suspected to be consuming any form of hard drug to the law enforcement agents for necessary actions to avoid any form of colossal damage.

Suspected armed robbers have invaded Lagos State Ministry of Justice, Alausa Secretariat, Ikeja, carting away a sum of N3 million kept in the ministry.

Vanguard gathered that the robbers attacked the ministry's Account Department at the early hours of Friday, through the ceiling, where they carted away the fund. Sources said that the fund was brought in at the close of work on Thursday and kept in one of the office. The fund was raised to offset the allowances of about 40 ad-hoc staffs, working as mediation officers for the ministry.

Inspite of the security officers attached to the ministry, none of the robbers was arrested. But the act
was not discovered until about 9:00 am by a staff that raised the alarm to alert others of the act perpetrated earlier in the day.

When their correspondent visited the ministry, the entire doors were shut to avert any interference with the investigations. Sources said that about 20 civil servants attached to the department have been detained by the Alausa Police Station for investigation and security officers.

Lawmakers, we need a little help here. Can you guys please give us something to stop Denrele, uncle Charlie boy or any other Nigerian from de-balling themselves now or anytime in the future? They need our prayers now more than ever. As for Bruce Jenner, He needs Jesus. Without Jesus, he is hopeless—regardless of whether he struggles with gender identity or not. Eternity is a small and rapidly decreasing number of heartbeats away and he will live in hell, as Bruce Jenner, not Caitlyn, for trillions of years (forever) in horrifying, unending torment, with a never-ending panic attack.

The same goes for everyone who is reading this and has been chasing a different identity from that which God has given you. Hell is your future. You will live in terror. This is the truth.
