Lagos GovernorShip Candidate Jimi Agbaje Talks On Disasters That Will Befall Nigeria If GEJ Is Not Elected
The Lagos State governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Mr. Jimi Agbaje, has warned that if President Goodluck Jonathan fails to win next month's election, the South-South could shut down the oil sector and this would affect the nation's economy which is oil-dependent.
*Sigh, is this a smart thing to utter?*
Agbaje, however, asked that if another part of the country shuts down over the failure of its candidate emerging President, would it have an equal effect on the economy since Nigeria relies heavily on the Niger Delta for its foreign exchange earnings.
Jonathan hails from the South-South while his major contender, Maj. Gen Muhammadu Buhari (retd.) of the All Progressives Congress, hails from the North-West.
The PDP governorship candidate said this at meeting in London organised by his supporters and the UK chapter of the PDP.
In the six-minute video clip posted on DiasporaPr.com, which was sighted by our correspondent, Agbaje warned that Jonathan's victory was imperative.
"I was active in the politics of the South-West in 1999. The Afenifere of which I was a very active member, did not support Olusegun Obasanjo as President but in 2003, it was difficult for the Afenifere as an organisation to go out and tell people that they should not vote a Yoruba man into office and so what did they do? They said they would not present a candidate because they had their own son (Obasanjo) who was running for office. That is the politics of that country.
"Now, in 2015, we are saying that the South-South has presented a candidate and we are talking about equity and some are saying that he should not be given a second term. This is a very difficult thing.
"In argument, some have said 'what will happen?' Well, people will be upset and they have shown that they have the power to shut down the system. I am not saying it is justified but the reality is there. If the system is shut down, where are we as a country?
"They say if the others don't get it, they too could shut down the system. Yes they can shut down the system but ask yourself which of the two do you think we can survive with? And these are the realities that we have to face.
"These are the realities that we have to allow. First, we have to sell the achievements of our person but we have to understand the politics of our country that we are still doing turn by turn and it must run in a way that is equitable."
Agbaje said Jonathan had done very well but his achievements were not been publicised well enough.
He said Buhari was too old to rule, adding that he was being controlled by people with selfish ambition.
He said, "The Buhari of 2007 and 2011 is not the Buhari of 2015. The Buhari of 2015 is a more compromised candidate. He is not working on his steam any longer; he is working on the steam of those who want him there for their own reasons."

The Imam was also accused of raping the victim, Elizabeth (pseudonym), in his house in Abule-Ojo, Obafemi Owode Local Government Area, Ogun State
PUNCH Metro learnt that Abduquadri, popularly known as Alfa Cisse, approached the victim, who was returning from her place of work around 8.30pm on December 28. The Imam stopped her at a roundabout in the Ofada area of the state, claiming he had a vision about her.
He was said to have ordered her to join an on-going prayer in his mosque before he could reveal the
vision.
Elizabeth, who claimed she succumbed to Alfa Cisse's bidding unconsciously, said he took her to his apartment after she dropped her luggage at home.
In the night, the cleric allegedly instructed her to strip herself naked and shaved strands of hair in her head, armpit and private parts, after which he had a carnal knowledge of her. It was also learnt that he told her to come back for a charm that would bring favour to her the following day.
When PUNCH visited the victim on Wednesday, she said:
"He and some clerics prayed for me. In the night, he woke me up, collected my nails, hairs and slept with me not minding my menstrual discharge. He said he would use them to prepare a charm for me to get favour.
I did not realise what I was doing untill the next day when I returned home and my sister scolded me for not sleeping at home. That was when it occurred to me that I had been used. He even demanded more hairs when I got there the following day. Since then, I have been feeling weak and I can't sleep in the night."
Elizabeth's uncle, Mr. Oluwaseun Idowu, said he had spent a lot of money on the victim, whose health reportedly aggravated after the encounter with the cleric. Idowu said he eventually located the Imam's house after which policemen from the Owode Police Division arrested him.
PUNCH Metro learnt that Alfa Cisse confessed to the police that he actually took the girl's pubic hairs, although he denied having sex with her.
The Ogun State Police Public Relations Officer, Muyiwa Adejobi, confirmed the incident. He said:
"The suspect was paraded by the state Commissioner of Police, Ikemefuna Okoye, today (Wednesday). He will be charged to court soon."

CNNMoney decided to dig a little deeper. We asked several wealth experts if they noticed any similar traits or attitudes among their clients with a net worth of at least $5 million.
Here's what surfaced:
1. Entrepreneurial: Going into business is a common path among the wealthy. While there are plenty of doctors, lawyers and corporate executives in the $5 million-plus group surveyed by Spectrem, those who go on to become business owners tend to build an even higher net worth
.
2. Always on the clock: The 40-hour work week is like a part-time schedule for many, especially those who have built businesses. A 60- to 80-hour work week is more the norm, as are working vacations, according to certified financial planner Doug Flynn of Flynn Zito Capital Management.
3. High energy: Many high-net-worth individuals have a lot of energy, don't need much sleep, and enjoy generally upbeat attitudes, according to psychologist James Gottfurcht, who runs Los Angeles-based Psychology of Money Consultants.
The super wealthy also tend to be visionaries, said psychologist Kristen Armstrong, a strategic wealth coach at Ascent Private Capital Management. She described many of her clients as "force of nature" people.
"I see again and again that they have a really great ability to envision possible futures ... [and] an amazing ability to focus their efforts and energy once they see a possibility."
4. Extremely confident: Gottfurcht said most of his clients who made their wealth possess what he calls an "expansive, healthy grandiosity." By that he means a sense of "I can do anything."
They're also open to creative ways of achieving their goals.
Armstrong, too, said her clients have great confidence in themselves and others, and firmly believe the world will accommodate their business ideas.
Also common, though, among some of Gottfurcht's wealthiest clients is what he termed "narcissistic personality disorder." That is, they think they're special, "require excessive admiration," have a high sense of entitlement and lack empathy for others, he said.
5. Discerning: For all their confidence, Armstrong's clients know they're not the smartest person in the room on every given issue. But they know to surround themselves with people who are -- which will help them realize their vision.
Among business owners, those who do best are the ones who move past sole proprietorship, and partner with others to expand their enterprises, said Flynn.
6. Modest: Despite glamorous Hollywood portrayals of the rich life, many multi-millionaires live more modestly. Most of Flynn's richest clients have chosen not to bump up their lifestyles in lockstep with their growing wealth.
"They still wear their old plaid shirt," he said. Or at least the men do.

Risk tolerant, but not impulsive: Anyone who runs a business is by nature a risk taker, Flynn noted. But there are no investing swashbucklers among his clients.
They have some short-term investments but tend to have a longer time horizon than most investors.
Whether they invest in a stock or a building, they stick with it as long as it still makes sense to them.
But they won't go all in on one bet, according to Flynn.
"There's always the guy who bets it all on something, gets lucky and then gets out. But that's not the recipe for most people," Flynn said.

"I first told my ex-wife that I was gay, we were far from being married. I wanted her to find other men honorably, who had a thing for women. I never did. I 'swear down.' I was only obeying the popular When demand of traditions.

One of those pre-marriage days, while we were with our marriage counseling team, I brought up the issue again – that I had always had a preference for men.
I wanted the Ministers to dissuade her from the marriage. I just couldn't put a ring on a fat big lie. My father taught me one principle: DIE FOR YOUR OWN TRUTH, EVEN IF IT'S UNPOPULAR, BUT DON'T HARM OTHERS WITH IT. She was so happy to tell the ministers, as quickly as she could, that my feelings for men would all be gone, because she believed it was a childhood disorder. I guess she meant she was going to fck my brains into heterosexuality. This is a mistake a lot of us make. We all want to change people to conform to our preferences. We find it easier to play god in the lives of people we did not make.
After six years together, I knew I was not getting any better. I STILL LOVED MEN. And one day, because I didn't want to cheat on her, I humbly asked her that we should go our separate ways. That was when all hell broke loose. She suddenly forgot about how it all started. In court, she told the Judge how she suddenly found out that I was gay, and how it's against the Law of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
In other words, she wanted me sentenced to the new 14 years jail term served by the Nigerian government. Luckily, I was in a civil court. Sadly, that day, I had to duck my face in shame as the crowd jeered at me for being whom I had always been. 'You faggot' 'Oh what a shameful man!' 'homo!' 'Na wa o ' I still don't know how I walked out of the court premises that day. ( this case is still ongoing) What about my business.? Tell any client in Nigeria that you are gay, and you lose their business. That's exactly what happened.
I lost friends, businesses, sponsorships and family members. I had to start my life all again. Applied for a new job. Get back to school. Although my ex-wife is one of the most faithful and beautiful women in Nigeria, she is a victim of institutionalized homophobia. Just like many people who are reading this.
It will be exactly a year today, when Nigeria instituted a law to jail people like me.
What's our offense? Because we are simply wired differently. There are only about 5 to 10% of homosexuals in every population as cited by popular findings and documents. Why is a 90% dominant population afraid of its 10%? Shouldn't you care about us? Don't you think it's a lot easier to be seen as part of the 90%? And before you throw those religious verses on us for being wired differently, I want to leave you with my favorite Bible verses from Romans 8:Italics mine:
