Obinna Onuoha, graduate of York St. Johns University in the United Kingdom and the Harvard Business School, and also the founder of Premier Petroleum Limited funded and offered the statue to the church. Onuoha announced his intention to execute the project on January 1, 2014, meaning that it would be unveiled exactly two years after. Jesus de Greatest, which would be the fifth tallest statue in Africa, has a total weight of 40 tons and is made of marble. With 161 feet, African Renaissance Monument in Dakar, Senegal, is the tallest statue in Africa after Great Sphinx of Giza in Egypt with 66 feet, and Ramesses II, still in Egypt, which has 30 feet, is the third.
Nelson Mandela Union Building in South Africa has 28 feet and is the fourth tallest in the continent. The world's tallest statue of Jesus is Christ the King in Ĺwiebodzin, western Poland, with a height of 172 feet. -

MINISTER of Power, Works and Housing Mr. Babatunde Fashola, said Nigerians should expect increase in electricity tariff in no distant time.
This is as he also indicated the Ministry of Petroleum has signified their interest to build certain critical pipelines to transport gas to the power plants that will add another 2,000 mega watts to the national grid within 12-15 months.
According to him, "By far the most complex challenge is the problem of tariff. It is complex because it is more in the hands of citizens than in the hands of Government.
"The role of Government is to set the tariff and in doing so, Government has committed to what is called a Multi-Year Tariff Order. This was done in order to attract investors to the market; otherwise we will not have achieved the privatization if the price of the product is not attractive to the investors.
"The tariff is the price of producing power. It covers cost of generation, gas purchase, transportation, transformers, staff costs and so on, disaggregated and charged per kilowatt/hour to make the business of power profitable.
"What Government did was to spread it over a number of years so that the impact is not felt at once but over a periodic incremental process.[b] I know that it has been a contentious matter, but I make this fervent appeal to consumers to give us the benefit of doubt, to forbear and accept it.

Anthony Bruce, 19, was sentenced to 16 weeks in a young offenders' institute for his treatment of the dog and was banned from owning animals for life.
Denise Jackman, prosecuting for the RSPCA, told North Tyneside Magistrates Court the little puppy had suffered when its head was pushed under the water,Mirror UK reports.
Bruce told the court he realised he had gone too far. He also admitted encouraging the pet to eat toilet paper on three separate occasions, knowing the dog was unable to digest the material.
Ms Jackman added:
"Mr Bruce said his partner gave Benji more attention than she gave him.
"When he was giving him a bath, he became agitated and held the dog's head under the water until he was unconscious. He said he was jealous of his partner's contact with the dog.

This is a really sad news for this family,
The deceased according to reports, was the only son of his aged mother.
The family in a petition to the Ondo State Commissioner of Police, Mike Ogbodu, filed by the counsel to the deceased's father, Chief Goodluck Ibitoye Ewarawon, alleged that Olumuyiwa was attacked in his room at Shanghai Hostel in Akungba, a private hostel outside the school campus, by
the armed gang of seven boys under the guise of being student cadet officers.
The counsel to the family, Olufemi Meduoye, said:
"The armed assailants broke into Olumuyiwa's room while he was asleep and attacked him, thereafter, brutalized, bruised and inflicted on him fatal injuries from which he fell into coma.
The gang dumped Olumuyiwa's body at the General Hospital, Iwarooka Akoko before good samaritans brought the incident to the attention of the family three days later."
They said they took the comatose body of Olumuyiwa from the hospital to Trauma Centre Ondo which instantly referred the case to Obafemi Awolowo University Teaching Hospital, Ile-Ife.
The family said the boy never came out of coma and died later in the hospital.
While the University authorities responded by condemning all para-military organizations in the institution, it was reported late yesterday that two of the suspects had been arrested.
Police Image Maker, Femi Joseph, who confirmed the incident said that the suspect is on the run and that detectives are on his trail. He, however, assured that the suspect would soon be apprehended and made to face the law court.
However, the family of the deceased is insisting that the culprits who allegedly killed their son should be made to face the wrath of the law.
They urged the Commissioner of Police to use his good office to ensure a full investigation of the murder of Olumuyiwa by the suspected Cadet Officers.
Also, they asked the authorities of the institution to look at the activities of some armed gang who operated under the guise of para-military to attack members of the public.
The family also asked the security forces and the state government to be alert to the activities of such organizations with a view to protecting the lives of innocent citizens.
