The government in the city of Banda Aceh, located on the island of Sumatra, have requested that locals no longer give cards or chocolates to celebrate Valentine's Day.
The city's mayor, Illiza Saaduddin Djamal, declared that under Islamic law, Valentine's day is considered a forbidden act.

'Our society and the Muslim youth should certainly not be celebrating non-Islamic holidays.
'The law says it is haram. The government is obliged to protect the public and younger generation from unlawful acts,'

he said.

Police will be patrolling the streets of the city, warning people from giving flowers or other gifts for Valentine's Day, according to Reporters.

Sunderland Footballer Adam Johnson sacked!!!

Sunderland football club has officially sacked footballer Adam Johnson after he admitted to Child sex in court.

On Thursday February 11th, Adidas also terminated the contract they had with the Johnson . With his trial set to continue. Sunderland have confirmed their decision to terminate his contract and Last night,the club posted an official statement to that effect on their website:

''In light of Adam Johnson's guilty pleas, the club has today terminated his contract with immediate effect. The club will make no further comment.''

He was arrested last year for allegedly having sex with a 15 year old girl and child grooming her. He had been playing for Sunderland while the case was in court.

NLC proposes for the increment of the minimum wage to N48,000 due to the devaluation of the Naira

The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) is looking forward to propose a new minimum wage to the federal government following the devaluation of the naira,
the Secretary General, Nigerian Union of Textile Garment and Tailoring Workers of Nigeria (NUTGTWN), Comrade Issa Aremu confirmed this when he
spoke yesterday on the sidelines of a policy dialogue on naira devaluation in Lagos,he  said the current N18,000 is no longer sustainable and the NLC would propose N48,000 as minimum wage. Governors and employers,should resign and be arrested if they cannot afford to pay their workers or implement the minimum wage as N48,000.

He said:

"The minimum wage has declined to 60 dollars. It has to move to N48,000. That is why the NLC is ready to prepare to submit our new proposal and this will be done, I tell you, whether through struggle, we will get that result.
We are one of the poorest countries in the world. Ghanaians stand better than us. Workers' wage is to turn the economy around and in spite of that some governors are still not paying as and when due. That's why I said any governor or any employer that doesn't pay salaries should resign and not only that, he should be prosecuted because the Nigerian constitution is very clear that they should pay salaries as at when due,"
