We Will Create More Than 1MILLION Jobs For Graduates In 2016 - - CBN

Godwin Emefiele, the governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), says the bank would be creating employment for at least one million graduates in 2016.

The bank chief expressed that this would be done by harnessing the power of small and medium enterprise across the 36 states of the federation.

Speaking at the opening ceremony of the seventh annual bankers' committee retreat in Lagos, Emefiele said CBN was going to work with commercial banks in delivering this.

"We need to get more and more people to be employed, and we will need the support of the banks to begin to see how we lower our risk acceptance criteria to give support to our young graduates," he said. "In the course of the next few weeks, we will be unfolding a plan of support of the CBN to create employment for at least one million young graduates in Nigeria in 2016.

"That will entail support from Nigerian banks and our development institutions to see how we will channel these concessionary loans to companies that are MSMEs."

My Sister Poured Hot Water on Herself ─ Medical Student

Yemisi Arogbonlo, the 24-year-old medical student who allegedly poured hot water on her stepsister, Oluwafunke, on Friday, December 4, at their house on Road 1, Federal Housing Estate, Mile 4, Port Harcourt, Rivers State, has denied the crime.

Yemisi, who spoke with PUNCH Metro on the telephone on Thursday, said she had a fight with Oluwafunke and it was during the scuffle that the 32-year-old mistakenly fell on a bucket of hot water and injured herself.

She said she (Yemisi) had wanted to bath with the water.

Oluwafunke and her stepmother, Victoria, had a disagreement sometime in September, and the 60-year-old woman fell down, hitting her head against a wall.

Victoria was said to have told her four children that Oluwafunke beat her up.

It was reported that Yemisi, who arrived from Nasarawa State where she was studying a medical course on the fateful Friday, allegedly poured hot water on the victim while she (Oluwafunke) was sleeping, inflicting burns injuries on her neck, breasts, chest and leg.

Yemisi, however, said Oluwafunke mistakenly fell on a bucket of hot water she had prepared for her bath. She said:

"I arrived from the school on Friday around 8pm and she was not around. Later, I saw her emerge from her room and we greeted. I told her we had a lot of gist since we last saw about six months ago.

She said she was surprised I was talking with her. I asked why she said that, and she replied that it was not important. I drifted off to sleep and I woke up around 11pm. I boiled water for my bath and took the bucket of water to the bathroom we all shared.

I was there when I saw her and I asked if she had changed the bed sheet where we would sleep because we share the same bed. She asked if I didn't hear that she beat up my mother while I was away from home. She said she could not believe that I could still talk to her. I was angry because she didn't even put into consideration that the woman was old.

I punched her and that was how we began to struggle and there was confusion in the house."

Yemisi explained that during the scuffle, Oluwafunke fell on the bucket of hot water, which scalded her body.

She said she regretted fighting with the victim, adding that it was the handiwork of the devil.

"I started crying when I saw what had happened. I treated her wounds to the best of my medical ability and I eventually took her to a hospital.

My father later took her to another hospital. The medical doctors said somebody will have to stay with her and I decided to do that. Later, her friends came and started insulting me. When her mother also arrived from Lagos, she said I should not stay with her again and all my attempts to explain what happened to her fell on deaf ears," she added.

But Oluwafunke told PUNCH Metro on the telephone that the claim she fought with Yemisi was a lie.

"It is a big lie. I was sleeping when she poured hot water on me. She is 24 years old, so how can she overpower me if we actually fought?" she queried.

People are in shock in Ijare, Ifedore council area of Ondo state over the death of 20 year old National Diploma (ND)  Science Laboratory Technology (SLT) student of the state owned Rufus Giwa Polytechnic, Owo, Wunmi Agbeluyi after a herbalist allegedly helped her to terminate the pregnancy.

However, detectives in the Ondo State Police command have picked up  the herbalist who allegedly put the deceased in the family way and in a desperate bid to terminate the pregnancy gave her some concoction to drink in order to flush it down . He is currently being quizzed at the Special Investigative Bureau (SIB).

Reports from Police detectives indicated that the  deceased who is now an orphan was the daughter of a herbalist. The suspect, according to findings is an apprentice to the father of the deceased when he was alive. Vanguard gathered that the suspect has been showing interest in the deceased  before her father's death but was hindered because the late father disapproved of the relationship.

But when the father later died, the suspect walked his way into the heart of the deceased and a relationship ensued and he begin to fend for her. Some years into the relationship, the unexpected reportedly happened  and the suspect reportedly prepared a concoction for his lover to terminate the unwanted pregnancy.

It was gathered that the lovers agreed that they were not ready to be parents hence the option of an abortion. The deceased was said to have taken the concoction and after some days she develop-ed severe abdominal pain. Sensing that trouble was knocking at his door, the suspect was said to have rushed her to a private hospital where the doctor who was recently picked up and quizzed by detectives helped them to evacuate the remnants of the pregnancy.

After the flushing by the doctor in the private hospital, her persistent complaint of abdominal pain made the suspect to relocate her to the State general hospital where she later gave up the ghost. While all these were happening the deceased did not confide in her sister (Funke ). A friend by name Omololu reportedly informed her that the deceased was admitted to the state hospital after which she rushed there to meet her sister in pain.

The deceased according to sources informed her sister that the suspect gave her a concoction to drink and that the pain started since then. The suspect reportedly told Funke that Wunmi was rushed to the hospital when she complained of abdominal pain. He did not disclose to her that he gave her concoction in a bid to terminate her pregnancy.

However, reports had it that the lovers also did not open up for the doctors that attended to her at the State hospital until she gave up the ghost. Vanguard gathered that it was after she died and taken back to Ijare for burial that the cause of her untimely death was exposed.

Some sympathisers informed the deceased's sister what actually happened before the suspect rushed the deceased to a private hospital where the remnants of the pregnancy were flushed out and was referred to the state hospital where she later died when the pain did not subside.

Funke and other family members reported the matter to the traditional of Ijare- Olujare of Ijare who advised them to lodge a complaint with the Police. The suspect and the medical doctor were later picked up  and detained. Speaking with Vanguard, the sister Funke said that the deceased was the last born of the family.

According to her, "it was a friend called Omololu who informed me that my sister has been admitted in the State specialist hospital and was critically ill. " I rushed to the hospital to meet my sister in pain complaining of stomach ache. She insisted that the doctors should not give her injection or drips as prescribed.

"While we were in the hospital Wunmi refused to disclose why she was given the concoction. According to her, the deceased later died in the hospital and was buried on Sunday in Ijare. "It was after the burial that people came to me and narrated what really happened to my sister

"I informed the family members and we reported the matter to the Olujare of Ijare who asked us to lodge a formal complaint with the Police. "I was informed that someone gave her concoction to abort the pregnancy but when she complained of abdominal pain, she was rushed to the hospital "I was later informed that  the doctor in the private hospital billed them N25,000 and an initial deposit of N20,000 was paid. It was the doctor that helped them to flush out the remnants of the pregnancy.

"But when the pains persisted I learnt she was rushed to the specialist hospital where she later died. "Funke said the family would want justice to be done and pleaded that the police should not sweep the matter under the carpet. "We will pursue the matter to a logical conclusion and those behind the death of our last born should be made to face the music", she said.

Contacted, the Police Image Maker Femi Joseph said the suspect is in police custody. Joseph assured that the matter was still under investigation

Favour :Couple buys a new car for stranger after seeing him trek home from work

This is what pentecostal Christians will call favour. Lol

Merrill and his wife Darilyn were driving home when they spotted school caretaker Robert Ford walking.

Mr Merrill said:

"I was stopped at a red light when I saw a middle aged man walking through the crosswalk directly in front of my car. It was 9:45pm and this man seemed tired from a long day's work, walking with lunch box in hand and a slight droop of the head.
I felt a strong impression to stop and ask him if he needed a ride. My wife agreed, so I pulled over.
In that brief trip Robert told us that he missed his bus that day. It takes him two and a half hours on public transportation to get to work and that same commute home after his day is over."

After that trip, the couple hatched a plan and along with Robert's sister-in-law Kathy, they set up a GoFundMe account in a bid to raise enough cash to buy the man a car.

Mr Merrill, a mechanic and owner of Nobori Auto, found a car and fixed it up for Robert after they raised enough money to pay for the car and insurance.
