Breaking News : CBN takes over Skye bank: Top MD and Directors resign (details)

If your money is in Skye Bank just wire it into my account so you don't lose it all. Lol

Well according to confirmed report
The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has taken over Skye Bank of Nigeria, believed to be one of those distressed in the country, reports have indicated.

This action has prompted Mr Timothy Oguntayo, the managing director, and other top management of the bank including all non-executive directors, to resign ahead of a perceived mass purging by the apex bank.

The resignation of the management at Skye Bank was a pre-emptive action by the bank to avoid a total clampdown by the CBN as it plans to remove directors in banks with bad debts in the next few days. Inside sources claim Skye bank has over N700 billion in bad loans.

The CBN hammer hit the bank about a week after the top financial regulator threatened to sack the chief executive officer and chairman of any bank that fails to publish its financial statement within the regulatory period.

AT LAST!! Court Grants Fani-Kayode, Nenadi Usman, Danjuma Yusuf Bail

This is some progressive news, channelstv has reported that

The Federal High Court sitting in Lagos has granted bail in the sum of 250 million Naira each, to Former Minister of Aviation, Femi Fani-Kayode, Former Minister of Finance, Nenadi Usman and Danjuma Yusuf who are being tried by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) for allegedly stealing and laundering about 4.9 billion Naira.

Delivering his ruling on their bail application on Monday, the trial judge, Justice Sule Hassan held that there was no evidence that the defendants will interfere with trial if granted bail.

The judge also held that denying the defendants bail, especially as the court's vacation was near, and would span throughout the expiration of August, will not serve the interest of justice.

Justice Sule Hassan granted the defendants bail with two sureties each in like sum.
The sureties must own landed properties within the court's jurisdiction and must present to the court, evidence of tax clearance.

The defendants were also ordered to deposit their passport in the custody of the court pending the determination of the case.

Identity of ex-female minister who allegedly owns N2.5bn In housemaid’s account revealed (photo)

This is our money so it is our business,

The identity of a former female minister who allegedly owns the N2.5bn traced to the account of her housemaid has been revealed.

Earlier report did not name the said minister, but a report by SaharaReporters revealed that former Minister of Aviation, Stella Oduah, who is now a senator representing Anambra State in the Federal Republic of Nigeria is the unnamed ex-female minister.

According to the report, two EFCC sources confirmed that the bank account and its huge deposits had been opened and operated without the knowledge of the former minister's housemaid.

"Senator Oduah apparently opened the account with her housemaid's name, image, and details without the housemaid knowing about it," said one EFCC agent familiar with the scandal.

Another EFCC source the report said confirmed that Ms. Oduah had been going around to some top officials of the Muhammadu Buhari administration seeking their help to scuttle her impending trial. Last week, she asked for a meeting with EFCC chairman Ibrahim Magu, claiming she wanted to meet in her official capacity as a senator.

The two EFCC sources who spoke on the "housemaid" account disclosed that Ms. Oduah was the sole signatory to the account, adding that they were still connecting the dots to uncover how the ex-Aviation Minister managed to pull off such a money laundering operation.

"As of last week, the account was still active and contained over N2.5 billion," said one EFCC source.

He added that he could not ascertain whether the EFCC chairman, who is currently traveling in Saudi Arabia for lesser hajj, had ordered the freezing of the account.

EFCC sources revealed that the discovery of the "maid" account meant that the former minister must have stolen as much as N5.6 billion so far from the Aviation Ministry's funds during her ministerial term.

It was earlier reported that EFCC investigators had so far determined that Ms. Oduah split N3.6 billion that she acquired illegally among eight companies.

However, Stella Oduah has reacted to the reports, calling them "totally false, baseless and at best the imagination of the platform."

In the statement, signed by Francisca Onyeisi, head of communications, Ms. Oduah said that if the reports were true, she would have been arrested long before now, especially at a time when the EFCC is "freezing accounts and going after opposition governors who enjoy same level of immunity as the president."

The former minister, therefore, urged her supporters and the general public to ignore the reports, saying she had "made a mark in oil and gas and Agricultural businesses before joining politics."

Ms. Oduah was removed from office in February 2014 after she was found to have received armoured BMW cars, worth N255million, from an agency she supervised.

Enforcement Of Ban On Hawking In Lagos Starts Today (July 4th 2016)

Well I still wish the government could provide other means of survival for most of this people before the enforcement of this law....

Lagos—Following the directive by Governor, Akinwunmi Ambode of Lagos State on the enforcement of Law against hawking in the state, most streets and highways at the weekend seemed deserted by traders for fear of being arrested.

This came as the Lagos State Taskforce on Environment and Special Offences, vowed to commence a total enforcement on street trading across the state as directed by the governor today.

Ambode at the weekend, directed law enforcement agencies to commence a total enforcement against street trading and street hawkers from July 1, 2016, saying that the law banning their activities across the metropolis would take its full course.

The governor, speaking at a live interview, said that the renewed enforcement is in line with Section I of the Lagos State Street Trading and Illegal Market Prohibition Law 2003 which restricts street trading and hawking in the metropolis.

However, observations over the weekend showed that quite a number of the traders deserted major highways, but have employed other means of hawking their wares.

In Oshodi, Egbeda, Ikeja, Ikotun, Ojo, among other areas of the state, few street hawkers were seen on the road but with vigilance.

It was gathered that most of the traders who were complaining bitterly against the law, accused the state government of planning to ruin their sources of living and thereby take to crime.

One of the street traders, simply identified as Uche, who spoke to Vanguard at Egbeda area, said he has no other trade than selling handkerchiefs and confessionary which he had engaged in for the past six years since he finished his Ordinary National Diploma, OND, from a Polytechnic.

He explained that in order to avoid arrest, they have come up with a new trend of keeping their wares in a hidden place, while they display only few for sale.

"By this means the law enforcement agents can not easily detect or see us to arrest. More so, it will be easier for us to escape when the chips are down.

Meanwhile the Public Affairs Officer of the taskforce, Mr Adebayo Taofiq, when contacted on the number of suspects arrested so far since the announcement by the governor, said, "Honestly, we are yet to make any arrest, but as from tomorrow (today), the taskforce unit, to be led by its Chairman, Superintendent of Police, Olayinka Egbeyemi, with other security outfits and men of the Kick Against Indiscipline, will launch a total enforcement across the metropolis and y one caught in the process shall be prosecuted accordingly."

Governor Ambode, while sympathizing with the family of a street hawker who was knocked down by an articulated truck in the process of evading arrest from officials of Kick Against Indiscipline (KAI) along Maryland Bus stop last Wednesday, regretted that the situation led to the death and destruction of public assets.

Consequently, Ambode said the state Executive Council has resolved to enforce the Law, which according to him makes both the hawker and the buyer liable of the offence

This Housemaid was Shot By Her Boss In Kaduna For Allowing His Daughter Cry (Photos)

Some people really have to see a coach to control their temper issues,  this is not human to me

Posted by a Facebook user IG Wala.Read what he wrote below......

JUSTICE FOR POOR MAID: WE ARE CALLING FOR POLICE INVESTIGATION ON THIS MATTER!

This woman is allegedly shot by the man that she is working in his house as a maid. The man name Jamilu (with a traditional title as Barden Kano) is said to be from a royal family in Kano but lives in Barnawa Area of Kaduna.

In my attempt to know the story behind this photos. I spoke with a Lawyer/Activist in Kaduna who was following up this matter and this is what he said to me:

The man was taking an afternoon nap when his little daughter was crying. The cry woke him up and he asked after his wife and the wife was not in the house. He blamed the Nanny for leaving the daughter. So, he brought out two guns (long and short), aimed at the Nanny and fired her. As she managed to step out from the house but, she fell down as a result of amount of blood she was bleeding.

The man came down to plead with her and decided to take her to the hospital. He then, quickly called one of the Community leader and told him what happened, the leader called the CP. Now, from all indications, the narrative is changing, the man is going round telling people that he was servicing his gun and the there was accidental discharge which shot at his maid. To cover up this issue, the Lawyer said Jamilu made offer to bribe his maid and the Community leader.

THE WOMAN IS LYING HELPLESS IN THE HOSPITAL IN KADUNA.

CAUTION!! Police Alerts Lagos Residents Of Robbers' New Tricks

If you are in Nigeria then this caution is for you,

The Lagos State Police Command has alerted residents on the new antics of criminals, particularly at night, before carrying out their nefarious activities.
The command's spokesperson, SP Dolapo Badmos, issued the alert in an interview on Sunday in Lagos, against the backdrop of recent robbery attacks on residents.
She said the criminals, in an attempt to rob or kidnap their victims, now engaged in switching off running power generating sets or turned on tap water, to lure them out.
Badmos, therefore, advised residents not to come out at night, if they noticed that taps within their compounds were opened or when their generators suddenly stopped working.
"Residents should be careful when they discover that their generators stop working or notice water gushing out from their taps, at night.

"They should watch carefully before going out. If they notice strange movements, they should call the nearest police station.
"This is why residents are advised to know the telephone numbers of the Divisional Police Officers (DPOs) or station phone numbers close to them,'' she said.
Speaking to some residents in Ikorodu, Egbeda, Iyana-Ipaja, Agbado Oke-Odo and Ikeja areas of the state, they shared their experiences of how criminals used the tricks to attack their homes.
Mr Tunji Ajayi, a victim and resident of Agbado/Oke-Odo LCDA, who narrated his experience, said the criminals made away with his generator set, after switching it off.
"When they could not gain access into my house, they became frustrated, they then decided to take away my generator.
"I left my generator on at night as usual, but at about 2 a.m, the generator suddenly went off.
"I took my time to observe what must have happened through the window before stepping out, but suddenly, I heard footsteps, so I decided to stay back.
"When the criminals realised that I was not coming out immediately, they decided to take away my generator,'' he said.
Another victim, Mrs Adenike Okubanjo, a resident of Egbeda area, said she left her generator on with the intention of putting it off at about 10 p.m, but slept off.
"I later woke up at midnight after the generator had gone off, although I knew there was enough fuel to last till the morning.
"Even at that, I decided not to go out until morning, but only to be woken by a neighbor and informed that some armed robbers came into the compound.
"The neighbour told me how the robbers followed him into his house when he came out to check his generator, after it suddenly went off,'' she said.
A resident of Iyana-Ipaja, who simply identified himself as Michael, also disclosed how he almost fell victim to the criminals' tricks, but God saved him.
"Usually, I put on my generator set from 7.30 p.m to 11 p.m. on daily basis. I guess, these suspected criminals had been watching me.
"On this particular day, I was about going to put it off, when I heard footsteps.
"I decided to stay back, after which, the hoodlums started threatening me to open the door, but I refused and started to scream and they fled,'' he said.
For Mr Pius Bamidele, a school teacher in Ikorodu, he said the criminals, after taking some of his valuables, also beat him up for not having enough cash on him.
Bamidele said the hoodlums gained entrance into his home after opening the tap in his compound.
"When I heard water coming out of the tap at about 1.30a.m, I wondered who could be fetching water and would have left the tap open at that time of the day.
"As soon as I came out, one the robbers pointed a gun at me and walked me into my apartment, where they made away with some of my property,'' he added.
