Three persons including a female sex worker and her client were Thursday midnight burnt to death as a mysterious fire razed a popular commercial sex spot near Orhowhurun Roundabout, Udu local government area, Delta state. Properties worth millions of naira were also reportedly lost to the inferno which also gutted adjoining trading shops and residential buildings.

Cause of the incident was still in doubt when Saturday Vanguard got to the scene but speculations were rife that the fire began at about 1am, Boxing Day, from one of the rooms occupied by one of the commercial sex workers at a popular brothel in the area.

Corpses of the victims, one young man and that of a young lady believed to be in her thirties were burnt beyond recognition, sympathizers explained. The raging fire, it was gathered, extended to other apartments and near-by buildings through electricity cables, taking out provisions, electric and pharmaceutical shops in the affected buildings.

"Corpses of the lady and most likely her male client were found on the same spot", a witness told Saturday Vanguard after their remains were taken to an undisclosed morgue.Victims and sympathizers were seen lamenting the unfortunate fire

NEW YORK CITY - It is being reported that rapper Bobby Shmurda was murdered in the jail where he was being held. Investigators say Bobby's cell mate Antwan Mauldin, 29, stabbed Bobby Shmurda to death with a hidden pocket knife. Although authorities are not sure what caused Mauldin to murder Bobby, it is believed Bobby Shmurda's song lyrics and rap personality might have played a role.

Bobby Shmurda was jailed on December 17 of 2014 for conspiracy of murder and weapon charges, and reckless endangerment as part of a 15-person, 69-count indictment that included fellow GS9 label-mate Rowdy Rebel. Bobby was being held at Rikers Island jail in New York City at the time of his murder. Although pleaded not guilty, Bobby was scheduled to remain in jail for christmas. The 20 year old rapper was known for his popular hit singles "Hot N*gga" and "Bobby B*tch", as well as introducing the popular "Shmoney Dance".

Mauldin, who was also jailed and awaiting trial for weapons charges, will now be charged for first degree murder and can face up to 40 years in prison. We will bring you more information soon.

***Six weeks ago, I was in Benin City to support a friend who was getting married that weekend. We drove down to Ugbowo campus of UNIBEN, laughing along the way at bini guys and the way they pronounce certain words. We got stuck in an unusual traffic jam and my friend who was driving, took the opportunity to reply his pings, pausing only to turn up the radio when Wizkid's "In My Bed" came on. A few seconds later, he increased the volume even more. I accepted that since I was in his car, I had to endure his choice of songs. So I listened, trying to figure out why he was interested in that particular song.
Though the melody has this jingle-catchy feel, everything else about the song is horrible. The mix brought to mind those days when Nigerian studio engineers were still learning how to mix. The overall instrumentation is noisy with the kick pitched high, like a headache. Played on F-sharp minor, which is a predominantly high key for most people, but the struggling syncopation over a lazy bass line weighs the whole song relentlessly down. My friends know that I have a crazy physical reaction to songs, mostly when I love it. In this instance, I was gasping for breath by the end, as if the song was trying to strangle me. I thanked God I was still alive when it finally ended. But as the traffic lingered my friend put down his phone, this time to surf through radio stations. Again, he landed on "In My Bed." That was when I really got scared, thinking I was going to pass out.

This year, we have had a mix of both good and bad songs. Wizkid's "In my bed" is one of those ear worms you don't want to get into your brain space for three minutes and 46 seconds. Those who will say "WTF" is Etcetera saying? I want you to note that I have a zero interest in persuading you to agree with me. If you enjoy "In My Bed," I won't dream of changing your mind. I heard it again last weekend at my manager's party, and for a second, I thought it was some kind of pain killer advert, because the radio station where I have my show, currently runs an ad that sounds like a more palatable version of it.

A 17-year-old girl was dragged down a side street and raped by communal bins under a block of flats, police said.
The girl was threatened with a knife after being ambushed from behind by her attacker in Thamesmead, south-east London, according to police.
Detectives said the man, who had covered his face with a scarf, "dragged" her into a bin area in Binsey Walk during the attack at around 7.30 on Tuesday evening.

After raping her he ran off towards Harrow Manor Way, according to detectives.
Scotland Yard said the man was black and spoke with a London accent. His victim believed he may have been of African descent due to a number of phrases and mannerisms he used.
The attacker is thought to be around 25, of average build and around 5ft 8ins tall.
Police said he was wearing dark blue jeans and black Addidas trainers with a dark, bulky coat. He was also carrying a black bag.
Police appealed to people living in the area to come forward with any information they may have.


Detective Inspector Neal Burton, said: "This was a terrifying experience for the victim who has been extremely brave in coming forward to report the rape and assisting the investigation team, who are following every available investigative lead to identify and arrest her attacker as soon as possible."
