We Are Not Going After MMM Cause It Is Legal - EFCC

MMM Participants should not be worried about the law,  they should be worried about MMM

There has been news about that the Fedral Government is about to scrap MMM Nigeria.

However, Tropage reported that there are indications that EFCC may not be able to go after MMM promoters as they see them as people going about their own personal and private business which is not illegal. According to their reporter from a source in EFCC,

MMM is not an unlawful business as such we cannot go after the promoters of MMM. Our questions to the National Assembly is " What are we going to charge the promoters of MMM for? What law have they violated? What money has the system stolen?. All these and many more are questions that we need to consider before taking any actions. MMM does not have any office in the country where we can go and ask for details about their activities. So our hands are tight.

Tropage also noted that their source also went further to state that people who participate in MMM are doing so at their own risk. As such they would have themselves to blame for any negative outcome. It is not for us to tell them what to do with their money. Just as we do not stop people form investing on any legal business venture, we can not stop people from participating in MMM.

Recently, the President-Elect of the United States said that the Nigeria Government is corrupt. I think the FG should do something about this instead of running after the wind about MMM.

MMM is real and even I have benefited from it.

MMM Member Blast House Of Rep. For Ordering EFCC to Arrest '' MMM Promoters'' (Video)

Ibraheem Musa Usman who is a member of Mavrodi Mondial Moneybox in Kano has vented his anger on the House of Representatives for directing the EFCC to arrest promoters of the investment scheme.

Following the decision of the House of Representatives to direct and issue warning to the Central Bank of Nigeria and the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission to immediately arrest promoters of Mavrodi Mondial Moneybox, otherwise known as 'MMM' in Nigeria, a member of the group has come out to defend it.

Ibraheem Musa Usman from Kano made a video to defend the investment scheme and blasted the House of Representatives for trying to tarnish the image of the promoters and the business scheme.

He urged the House of Representatives to set their priorities straight instead of poke-nosing into affairs that doesn't concern them.

It has been argued that the scheme is something encouraging as it delivers for most Nigerians who have been bashed by the harsh economic recession.

Many people have called for a more friendly negotiation between the promoters and the CBN whereby the scheme can be registered and an office created for any avoidance of doubt.

Usman called on CBN and the House of Representatives to desist from tarnishing the image of the scheme as many Nigerians have now been made to believe that the business scheme is scam.

It would be recalled that the House of Representatives on Wednesday, ordered the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) to immediately go after the promoters.

It specifically asked the EFCC to arrest MMM promoters and prosecute them. Most of the lawmakers who added to the discussion opposed the investment scheme and labeled it scam.

MMM gained popularity recently in Nigeria following the current economic recession in the country. MMM Global has swept across Africa, with branches promising returns on investment of 30 per cent a month in South Africa, Zimbabwe, Nigeria and some east African states.

It is masterminded by the former Russian politician Sergey Mavrodi, who went on the run when the original MMM – standing for Mavrodi Mondial Moneybox – collapsed in the late 1990s, losing investors an estimated $100m.

The lawmakers warned Nigerians to be careful as this is yet another trick investment fraudsters use to attract people before vanishing with their money.

The House directed the EFCC, security agencies and the CBN to take urgent steps to halt the scheme before many Nigerians would become victims of the scam.

I would destroy my green card if Trump is elected President- Wole Soyinka

Soyinka said on November 2 while giving a speech to students of Oxford University in England that he would destroy his Green card in the eventuality of a Trump presidency but that decision will have to wait.

The Nobel laureate had said: "If in the unlikely event he does win, the first thing he'll do is to say [that] all green-card holders must reapply to come back into the US. Well, I'm not waiting for that.

"The moment they announce his victory, I will cut my green card myself and start packing up."

In what has been described as an upset, Trump defeated Hillary CLinton

Newsweek reports that Soyinka said that he would not carry out his threat yet but noted that the US may soon withdraw support from Nigeria in the anti-terrorism war.

The US under the administration of President Barack Obama has supported the fight against terrorism especially in West Africa as it has provided about $71 million worth of equipment, logistics and training to task force coalition in the region.

Soyinka said: "One should expect that level of collaboration to diminish. Trump's mentality is one of, 'What are we doing there? What business do we have over there?'

"I foresee Trump dismissing that kind of expectation offhand and closing in, shrinking, becoming smaller in terms of [the U.S.'s] presence in other parts of the world."
When asked about his decision to tear his Green card, Soyinka said: "Why don't we wait until Trump actually takes office?"

"I'm just going about my normal commitments, but definitely not getting into any more commitments. Let's put it that way for now."

However in a separate interview with The Interview Magazine, Soyinka said he would leave he US in January, 2017 when Trump is sworn in.

He said: "Come January 20, 2017; watch my WOLEXIT! (Donald Trump will be sworn-in as the 45th President of the United States of America on Friday, January 20, 2017)

"As Election Day approached, the specter became near palpable. I refused to switch on the television this morning until I had stiffened myself with a strong espresso. I felt disaster in my marrow."
