ShockinG!! Osun Worker Attempts Suicide over Unpaid Salary

This is so, so sad. A senior civil servant in the Obokun Local Government Area of Osun State, Mr. Ojo Owolabi, has attempted to end his life by drinking a large quantity of insecticide.

It was learnt that Owolabi took the action because of his inability to feed his family due to the failure of the state government to pay salaries.

Civil servants in the state have not been paid their salaries in the last six months.

Punch reports that the incident which happened at Owolabi's residence last Saturday caused
pandemonium in the neighborhood. Owolabi, who is a sanitary officer at the council was receiving treatment at a hospital.

A source close to Owolabi said he became frustrated as a result of his inability to meet his family's needs. The source said:
"Baba Ibeji ( Owolabi) drank herbicide. He was frustrated because he has been unable to feed himself and other members of his family. You are aware that the state government has not paid workers for some months now. I think he just lost hope and decided to take his life by drinking Gramoxone.
Members of his family rushed him to a hospital in Ile Ife, where he was admitted. We are praying that he survives it."
Owolabi's wife and children were said to have relocated from their apartment and could not be reached for comment.

The Chairman of Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees, Mr. David Owoeye, tacitly confirmed the incident to Punch on the telephone. Owoeye said:
"Has the news spread to you? We don't want to make it public so that it will not embarrass the family."
A factional Chairman of the Nigeria Labour Congress, Mr. Gambi Yusuf, said the unpaid salaries had caused the workers untold hardship. Yusuf said:
"Anybody who is not paid for six months is a walking corpse. What do you expect him to eat? Even if the workers can fast, won't they break their fast? How do you expect them to feed their children?
The government of the day should be more serious about workers' welfare. We are appealing to the government to pay workers because workers deserve their wages."

The Director of the state Bureau of Communication, Semiu Okanlawon, said, "I am not aware of the incident and I don't see the nexus between a man drinking poison and when the government will pay workers' salaries."

The state police spokesperson, Folasade Odoro, could not be reached on the telephone. She had also yet to reply to a text message sent to her phone.

Wow!! Meet the Blogger Who Earns N3m per Instagram Picture

This is really interesting , Don't ask me how much I make though .lol

Well A personal style blogger has lifted the lid on the lucrative business of bloggers who are paid big bucks by brands to feature certain products, or even phrases, on their Instagram accounts.

Danielle Bernstein, 22, runs the blog We Wore What, and has 992,000 followers on her Instagram.
Currently, her rate card sets the cost of a single piece of sponsored content from $5,000 to $15,000, but she explained to Harper's Bazaar that this rate can go up or down depending on the number of posts a brand requires, and length of her relationship with the company in question.

And that's just the tip of the iceberg; according to Miss Bernstein, when she hits one million
followers, she will be able to charge 'a good amount more' for sponsored content.

Indeed, Miss Bernstein is edging towards the top of the new Instagram economy, through which savvy social media stars are translating an ever-increasing tally of followers into a lucrative business, which – if their accounts are considered as 'bankable' as Miss Bernstein's – could earn them millions of dollars a year.

Miss Bernstein explains that the range for Instagram accounts with a few hundred thousand followers is from around $500 to $5,000 per post, but accounts with upwards of six million followers can earn anywhere between $20,000 and $100,000 a shot.

Industry estimates say brands spend more than a $1 billion per year on sponsored Instagram posts, and that figure shows no signs of decreasing any time soon.

Meet The Kenyan Lawyer That Offered Obama 50 Cows, 70 Sheep & 30 Goats To Marry His Daughter

This is really funny, well anything is possible let us not totally discard the guy

A lawyer has a special request for President Barack Obama. His dream is to marry one of Obama's daughters, Malia, and is ready to pay 50 cows, 70 sheep and 30 goats as bride price.

Speaking to The Nairobian, Kiprono  said he is ready to meet Obama to discuss the matter when the US president visits in July.

"I got interested in her in 2008. As a matter of fact, I haven't dated anyone since and promise to be faithful to her. I have shared this with my family and they are willing to help me raise the bride price," he said.
The young lawyer claims his love for Malia is real and not infatuation. He claims Malia has Kenyan blood since his father Obama has Kenyan roots. "People might say I am after the family's money, which is not the case. My love is real," he said, adding that, "I am currently drafting a letter to Obama asking him to please have Malia accompany him for this trip. I hope the embassy will pass the letter to him. I will hand it over to the US Ambassador with whom we have interacted several times."

The lawyer said that should Obama accept his request, his engagement to the 'love of his life' will be "unique with a twist."
"If my request is granted, I will not resort to the cliché of popping champagne. Instead, I will surprise her with mursik, the traditional Kalenjin sour milk. As an indication that she is my queen, I will tie sinendet, which is a sacred plant, around her head," he said. Kiprono adds that he will avoid expensive hotels in the city. "I will propose to her on a popular hill in Bureti near my father's land where leaders and warriors are usually crowned. The place is called Kapkatet, which means 'victory',adding, "ours will be a simple life. I will teach Malia how to milk a cow, cook ugali and prepare mursik like any other Kalenjin woman," he said.

Marilyn Oma Anona Writes: Easier said than done...

Easy to just lie down and type ( most times crap )...
So easy to rant...

But at the end of the day, when it is really time to execute, you see them go so numb and dumb!

Yet daily we cry about how the aged and probably ill have taken the front seat perpetually and do not want us the young people to have a chance!

But on daily basis, I search for these young people (who actually feel they are victims) that will sit at the top and command affairs...

I see none!!!

I see lots and loads of incapable people who do not want to work but want to earn.

I see great number of young people who are so comfortable taking the backseat (without knowing that is what they are doing).

I see very shallow people who love to live the celebrity lifestyle, without having to toil and pass through fire to become diamond.

I see lots of young people who are just content with taking photo shoots and beautifying them with Instagram filters.

I see lots of young people who measure achievement by the number of Instagram followers, fb comments and likes, twitter followers etc.

I see lots of youths who are just satisfied with eating, pooping, sleeping and having sex with numerous partners.

There are those who know who they are, have a destination, working so hard to get there but they are very few.

Who then will take the positions we clamour for when we don't even know who we are.

Facebook is a world of it's own, where people easily perform and have people who do not know them cheer them!

In the real world, they can't perform!

Can we convert these cheap drama...
Rant...
Bandwagon reasoning...
Copy and paste writing ...
To real actions please???

Can we start to use our brain and work to make this nation great?

Can we arise?
Can the youths arise?

Where are the youths???

It Is OUT!! Baba Obago Phyno Shares Photo Of Him Chopping CORN (pic)

I never chop corn this season o, abeg em don dey sell am for your area?

SOUL FOOD!! WHAT'S IN A THOUGHT? (Must see)

Thoughts are nothing more than the meal of the mind...it's what the mind chews in meditation...and swallows when it is 'thought' through...but then most people 'eat' any kind of thought...in fact most chew on thoughts that didn't evolve from themselves!

They swallow greedily everything suggested to them - hook, line and sinker...regard less of its source...forget ful of the fact that thoughts often come in the form of gourmet foods...like movies and music...wow!

Why would I eat just about ANYTHING!!! Sooner than later, worse things than 'indigestion' will set in...hence the Word says -Guard your heart diligently, for out of it flows the issues (problems...solutions...and circumstances) of Life...hmmm...and all these because of the thoughts I keep devouring?

You, how is your heart today?
Is your heart still pure after you watch ungodly entertainment?
What is your thought like during that phone conversation and your chatting on fb, bbm etc with that person?
What do you imagine?
What of those thoughts you get from worldly music and movies and comedy?
What of those jokes you read or listen to?

Are they helpful to your soul?
Do they glorify God?
Judge yourself my friend!

"Let the words of my mouth, and the meditation of my heart, be acceptable in thy sight, O LORD, my strength, and my redeemer." (Psalm 19:14).

Only the pure in heart will see God (Matthew 5:8)

Tobe is one of those youths who went to school because mummy and daddy says education gives you a brighter future, As funny as it seems, she was still dedicated and Focused and never saw the media coming.

Her childhood dream was being a doctor, have a good life and be comfortable.

So lovers!!!
Enjoy our interview with Tobe da diva.

XP:tell us about your journey in the Broadcast media industry.

TOBE:My journey….it has been one with a lot of ups and downs. I got out of school in 2007 and, just because I had nothing better to do, I went for a radio audition in Abuja and got selected. Went on air for the 1st time in December of 2007 on Vision FM Abuja. Then I moved to Kiss FM in 2009 where I rose to the position of News Editor. In 2012 I moved to Enugu to work as the Programs Manager for Dream FM. In late 2014 I took a contract to work with GoUni Radio for a short time and set up the station. Currently, I am working on my own syndicated radio program "The New Woman Radio Show" and a live show on Dream FM, "On Air with TobeDadiva"

Since 2007, It's been working in broadcast media in various capacities, learning new tricks and pretty much, trying to grow in the industry…that's my journey.

XP:if you had the chance to start your career over again what would you do differently.

TOBE:Mmm….I would take more risks at the beginning and not be so afraid. I think I was a little too careful and let a lot of chances pass by but at the same time, I am kind of glad for the mistakes and experiences cause they are playing major roles in my decisions right now.

XP:is there any particular reason you chooses to be an On air personality.

TOBE:At the beginning, not really. I was just fresh out of school and wanted to keep myself busy before NYSC. But within a few month, I realized that I wanted to be in broadcasting…It became hard for me to imagine a life where I wasn't a broadcraster.
One experience in 2009 made a lasting impact though…I was hosting the night show on Kiss FM and a girl (her name was Crystal), called up on the show and went on and on about how messed up her life was and she described how she was going to drink herself to stupor and hope that she would die. She talked about her complicated relationships and I just spent time on the phone with her…I think we spent over an hour…(usually that would be too long to spend with a caller but for some reason, I just went ahead and did it). A week later, she came by the office to see me and tell me how speaking with me helped her out of her depression.

That singular experience gave me new reason and drive.

XP:
Since you didn't see the OAP thing coming and It was not part of the plan, what would you have rather made you popular?

TOBE: Lol.
I didn't start out wanting to be popular. I just wanted to work and then make money. I honestly didn't know what I was gonna be when I finished school.
I was gonna be a doctor....but that didn't work out cz I couldn't wrap my head around chemistry
I was pretty much like most young people....just floating thru. ..till media found me.

XP: Tell us about the "bedroom diaries"  and what you aim to achieve.

TOBE:Hahahaha….the bedroom diaries. It is a new fun web video project I started a few weeks back. I am a person who believes in self developing, learning new things and pushing yourself….Bedroom diaries is my attempt at that. I taught myself basic video editing just to do it…I honestly feel very proud.

Bedroom Diaries is a Vlog series where I talk about different things with friends and guests, either in my bedroom or theirs. It is recorded on my PC and we all just go in on the topic of discussion for the week.

The aim is to entertain the viewers while starting up random conversations among friends. It comes out every Monday on my youtube channel www.youtube.com/c/TobechiNneji and is updated on my blog www.tobedadiva.blogspot.com

XP:what has been your challenges in the industry so far.

TOBE:Biggest challenge would be having people take me seriously. A lot of people just see a small fine girl that they can hit on every time I walk into a room…it is rather tiring having to discuss work matters with a person who would rather be hitting on you.

XP:who has been your greatest inspiration?

TOBE:Mmmm….I have a long list…Funmi Iyanda certainly is on it. She has a very strong personality I can only hope to develop. I am also very inspired by Mo Abudu…she makes me realize that it's never too late to follow my heart. I newly discovered Femi Jacobs and I am still getting to know him (from afar o…lol)

XP:How far are you willing to go to take ur career to.

TOBE: Ha! How do I answer this now….ok! I wont do anything that is illegal or that is bad for my soul for my career. Everything else is doable and negotiable.  I intend to have my career span through different spheres of broadcasting and I hope to leave a legacy that people can use as reference while trying to build their own careers.

XP:do you have any particular person you admire?

TOBE:Yes. Several. I could write a long list, especially here in Enugu. In the industry, I admire Toke Makinwa…her skin is tough as nails and the way she publicly praises God is very inspiring. I also really admire Gbemi (beat Fm)…she seems so put together, smart and straightforward.

XP:what would you say made  you different from other OAP's

TOBE:mmm….I can't really say…I try to put in the work…it's not just baseless talk for me. So maybe that's what sets me apart…you might have to ask listeners for this one. Lol

XP:is there anything else you do outside broadcast media?

TOBE: Yes. I run a content/ideas development outfit called Madiva Concepts. We develop ideas and plans for events and media content and develop plans/proposals for them.

Recently, I have been toying with the idea of doing some modeling and acting….maybe I will

XP:where do you see yourself in 10 years.

TOBE: In 10 years I wanna rule the world….lol.
Seriously though, in 10 years, I see myself with a family, running my own syndicated show across the country and looking out for the next risk to take. If I go ahead and get into acting, then in 10 years, I see me on the big screen

XP:what's your advice to upcoming on Air personality.

TOBE:
Self Development….there is so much you can learn on your own…the days of being saved by a good looking body and an accent are coming to an end, you gotta have brains, wit and skill.
