   Dabma Sickle cell foundation presents the maiden edition of the EPL, An interactive, console/gaming initiative for sickle cell awareness.

ABOUT THE FOUNDATION
Dabma sickle cell foundation was registered as an N.G.O on February 10, 2011 in memory of Miss Chidinma Dickson, an undergraduate student of economics at BELLS University, Sango Otta in Ogun State, who succumbed to the complications of sickle cell disorder in 2010.

Though she is no longer here, we are keeping her vision and commitment alive. Her vision was to save generations from sickle cell disorder that is afflicting the Nigerian society. Dabma has undertaken several programs on sickle cell awareness in the area of public enlightenment education to schools also called "ASSSEND" (Annual sickle cell secondary schools sensitization debate), with the grand finale last June when we marked the World Sickle Cell day with a focus on raising a new generation of children without the disorder or genetic disfavors to compete with others and striving to become responsible and healthy citizens and leaders in future. We have also written several books, held sensitization seminars and conferences, conducted many genotype tests for the public, among others, being supported/sponsored by various organizations.

Sickle cell disorder is a BURDEN to our nation and the Foundation has devised far reaching and impactful strategies to combat the menace. A serious attempt must be made to reverse the situation in which Nigeria accounts for 75% of all sickle cell births in Africa. According to WHO report, Nigeria has full blown 150,000 sickle cell disease births yearly and one of the states alone accounts for 7,000 sickle cell births and the figure keeps increasing annually.

ABOUT THE EPL
EPL is an Entertainment and Interactive Console game played for sickle cell awareness. It involves participation of celebrities, corporate organizations, the general public, and those living with, and as a result of the disorder, cannot survive the physical 90-minute football played in the open field.

We want them, without stigmatization to play with us in the comfortable atmosphere we would together create, for a few hours, 10am-5pm on our Independence Day. This is to free their minds from the ever intense PAIN experienced on a day to day basis. It also involves sickle cell N.G.O's and their members in a seeded match playing against each other, creating fun for those living with the disorder through indoor sporting activities and music via console.

This gives them a sense of belonging that they are not abandoned in pain, as we celebrate our Independence Day. We want to let them know that they are not alone in their ordeals.
