The Nigerian Queen pageantry is one of the most credible and transparent beauty and brain competition in Nigeria and that is why we the 'Enekem' media brand always support the event yearly, this year 2016 competition is arguably the best since the invention of this great event and in case you did not make it to the event, worry no more cause we have all the details here.....
It was a hotly contested battle but in the end, Miss Abuja – Winifred Jalome Uduimoh emerged as Winner – The Nigerian Queen 2016
So the 8th edition of The Nigerian Queen pageant – TNQ 2016 is over and a winner has been chosen. Lets get a rundown of the event.
First up, it started a couple of hours late. By the time the girls hit the stage for a choreographed catwalk performance. You could tell that the crowd was restless.
Performances for the night started with Rave & his dance crew, 3nity & 001 Dance Crew
The host of the event was multiple award winning actress, musician, producer & more; Juliet Ibrahim. She was dressed appropriately for the event in a well-fitted Tux. She was eloquent throughout the night and coped well with some technical issues and moments of awkward silence from the crowd. She was looking FINE! Her voice and pitch were on point. Overall stage presence was great.
Rave of the moment, Laye led the contestants in their fashion outfit and unity dance with his hit song DANCE.The girls came out and performed a choreographed dance with him during the latter song. Good performance. It definately woke the crowd up!
I was proud at that point. Not ‘cause I was excited by girls dancing around the stage in thier sexy fashion outfit or ‘cause they had the most killer bodies….nahhh, I was proud because TNQ hasn’t fallen prey to the Size 0 phenom. Make no mistake, these girls had real bodies! The were
The entertainment session of the pageant kicked-off proper as Comedian K-O Baba took the stage and immediately launched down to business, taking the crowd to ecstasy with a 20-minute set. He performed to the delight of the audience. Up next, Comedian Adviser! If K-O Baba woke up the crowd then Adviser picked them up, shook them and thrilled them till they could laugh no more. He unleashed rib cracking jokes, Highly Impressive.
Then came a highlight on the night as a visibly excited Arinze Baba made his grand entrance onstage after a wild introduction by Nnamdi De Voice. Guests cheered as soon as they caught sight of the fire-filled comedian. With comedy performances over, the evening gown segment. Only one dress stood out for me. It was Miss Abuja’s dress (The winner). It wasn’t the clichéd beauty queen garish gown. It was a floor length, red bodice and bust gown. Some other dresses were nice but the usual beauty queen fare…
It was then time for Mr 2kay to perform, He unleashed his hits – ‘who no like better thing’ and‘BGS’. Everyone was singing and dancing along. Higly entertaining! He kicked things off with a snippet of his hit ‘Count it all joy’ and then the whole crew jumped in and performed ‘Summer girl’ it was an energetic performance overall.
The outgoing queen, Tender Chimelu did her exit note as she stood up and waved at the crowd dressed in a MOMO couture gown.
