Bayelsa state civil servant /workers laments economic woes, and unpaid salaries as workers day hit.

The Bayelsa State civil servant/ workers  has joined other Nigerians in celebrating the nation's workers day on May 1st 2016.  But the Bayelsa state workers were dissatisfied and unhappy as the Governor of Bayelsa state Seriake Dickson and his deputy failed to show up in the workers rally held at sport complex, (yenagoa)  rather they sent the Head of service as a representative  who spoke ex-tempo.

The civil workers laments the issue of unpaid salaries and economic downfall in the state,  and pleads that the Bayelsa state government attends to the payment of their  wages,  considering the fact that the federal Government supported each state (including Bayelsa) with "Bail-out funds".

However the Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Mr. Jonathan Obuebite, said in a statement on Sunday that workers remained the most critical component of Bayelsa.

Obuebite said, "This current challenge has made it extremely difficult to meet up with the welfare of workers, especially in the areas of payment of salaries and also carry out the completion work on ongoing projects.

"However, it is worthy of note that, despite the prevailing circumstance, civil servants have continued to show understanding with the government by enduring the hard times of which the government is aware and truly appreciates.
