FUEL SCARCITY:I Have Food In My Backyard , Yet I Hunger

FOOD IN MY BACKYARD, BUT I AM STARVING
FAMINE IN FOOD ABUNDANCE
There is a garden at the back of the house, this garden in question has food in abundance, from juicy fruits to the choicest of crops, yet the family that owns the house where this garden dwells are suffering
from lack of food, hunger has them in his pockets, starvation is the order of their days.
They cannot access this garden because the powers that be have a hold of the keys to this food-haven. This key is under lock and key except of course, when its meal time, for these power brokers.

THE CURIOUS CASE OF NAIJA
Such is the situation Nigeria finds
herself, with huge deposits of the black gold; her citizens continue to suffer from critical fuel scarcity.

"Customers queue to procure fuel at the rate of N130 per litre".

The latest occurrence is in Ogun State, precisely the city of Abeokuta, where this unwanted situation has been ongoing for weeks.

It is bad enough that fuel is scarce, but worse, when the few filling stations that have e fuel are selling above the normal pump price of N87 at the rate of N130 per litre.

OUTRIGHT EXPLOITATION!!! .
A preliminary inquiry into the cause of this scarcity revealed that the government had not paid, or delayed the payment of fuel subsidy to the fuel marketers which culminated into the scarcity.

"Noisy altercation at the fuel dispenser. Everyone wants a taste of the pudding."

It was also revealed that the cause of the astronomical increase in the pump price can be attributed to the fact the marketers are procuring the petroleum products above the normal price, thus forcing them to sell at these high rates in a bid to balance their books.

"At the gates, motorcycle riders are not left out, as they also want some fuel"

NOT WHAT NIGERIANS ANTICIPATED
Needless to say, this is an atrocious
situation; many countries would not like to be in the shoes of Nigeria right now.

While all this is happening, the beloved president is junketing around the world making good use of the nation`s travel budget. A far-cry from what Nigerians anticipated when voting him into office. However, only time will tell if ditching GEJ in favour of PMB was a good decision.

HOPE AND PRAY
For now, Nigerians can only hope and pray, only but for a while. It is quite pitiable that a nation which ranks among the top oil producers of the globe cannot provide fuel for her citizens, and at affordable rates.
