Nigerian Lady Mary George Unazi Sentenced to Death in Malaysia for Drug Trafficking

Mary George Unazi, a 30 year old female student from Nigeria has been sentenced to death by a Malaysian High Court today after she was found guilty of trafficking 765.9gm of metamphetamine, also know as crystal meth, at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) four years ago.

Judge Datuk Ghazali Cha made the decision after finding that the prosecution had managed to prove its case against 30-year-old Mary George Unazi, beyond a reasonable doubt.

In his judgement, Ghazali said the accused's defence, on the other hand, was merely a bare denial.

He said the private college student had also failed to prove that the bag containing the drug was not hers.

Unazi was found to have committed the offence at the baggage claim area at the international arrival hall of KLIA at 3.10 pm on May 10, 2011. She was charged under Section 39B(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 which carries a mandatory death penalty upon conviction.

Deputy public prosecutor Siti Noorbaya Jamil prosecuted, while Unazi was represented by lawyer Sangeet Kaur Deo.

TENSION is mounting at the Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka following a letter addressed to the Vice Chancellor of the university, Professor Joseph Ahaneku by the president of the Students Union Government, SUG, Mr. Noble Eyisi over some perceived anomalies in the institution.

As the students were circulating the letter in the campus,Tuesday, security operatives tried as much as they could to mop up the document, but it was late as most people in the university community had got copies of it.

In the letter, several allegations were leveled against the VC by the SUG, most of which bordering on corrupt tendencies.

For instance, the SUG alleged that for the first time, Year 1 students were asked to pay the sum of N7500 for what the school management called 'Biometric Capturing fee', adding that with about 6000 students admitted this session paying the amount, the sum of N45 million was collected and wondered what the money has been used for .


The students' union president also demanded to know how the students union dues paid annually were utilized because, according to him, the students who are the sole owners of the money have been demanding to know how much is in the account.

Other demands of the students include reasons behind the hike of the post-UME fee from N1000 to N2000 by the present management of the university, why the management objected to the food price of N150 per plate initiated by the SUG, why SUG officials were not paid allowances as obtainable in other tertiary institutions and why the VC initiates and carries out policies that directly affect the students without consulting them.

The letter said: "Our dear VC, the students are the bedrock of any university. We demand that you take us as your utmost priority. As this is a federal institution and in view of the trending change and zero corruption in Nigeria through our president –elect, General Muhammadu Buhari, we demand a transparent system and a complete students- oriented government."

Paul Mason who once held the dubious title of world's fattest man is recovering after having almost 4st of skin sliced off him.
The Brit  uploaded the smiling selfie showing him and his fiancee Rebecca Moutain taking a stroll through Central Park in New York.

In a comment accompanying the post, Paul said: "Me and Rebecca at Central Park yesterday. It was a beautiful day and I was able to do quite a bit of walking."

The couple were relaxing after 54-year-old Paul went through gruelling surgery to cut more than 3st in loose skin from his body.

However, this left him with grotesque folds of loose, baggy skin that weighed a mammoth 7st.

He recently underwent surgery in America to remove the flesh and posted another image to Facebook showing huge lumps of bloody flesh sliced off him.

He said: "I apologize for the graphic nature of this photo, but it puts in perspective the amount of excess skin removed in this, the first of at least two surgeries needed."

The total weight of the skin was a staggering 3.4st but Paul told followers of his joy at the opeation's success.

He said: "I'm so happy to be continuing my journey towards the life I want to live with Rebecca."

The building was the dream child of Dave Longaberger, the company's founder. Starting the company in 1976, Longaberger spent $30 million to build the office in 1996, and it took over two years to complete the structure. Originally, Longaberger planned to franchise the design, turning all of his company buildings across the US into versions of the company headquarters. Sadly, the dream passed away along with Longaberger. Right after the construction of the basket headquarters, Dave Longaberger died at 64 years old in 1999 from kidney cancer. However, his legacy lives on in both his company's baskets and in one of the most bizarre company headquarters in the world.

An eight-year-old was discovered hiding in a suitcase as a woman attempted to smuggle him into Spain at the Ceuta border. He was clearly seen by customs officers curled up inside the case. When customs officers opened the case he climbed out and said his name was Abou and that he was eight-years-old.

The woman carrying the case was a 19-year-old Moroccan. Civil Guard later said that they had located a woman from Ivory Coast, with a temporary residents permit in the Canary Islands, who admitted she was the mother of the child and had been waiting to collect him.



The child was taken into the care of social services while the mother and the woman who was attempting to bring in the case have both been arrested.
