Well A man shot his pregnant girlfriend seven times before turning the gun on himself in a bloody hotel room confrontation.

The incident happened at a Times Square hotel for the homeless in New York city late last night.

Police believe 29-year-old Herbert Gaines shot his partner six or seven times.

The victim, Brandi Quijano, 27, lived at the hotel which is run by charity Common Ground, who provide housing for the homeless and people with HIV.

The tragic couple were rushed to a hospital, but doctors were unable to treat their wounds and they both died.

Anthony Mack, who has lived at the hotel for 15 years, said: "There was a whole lot of gun shots [...] in rapid succession.

"She was laying on her back bleeding.

"He shot himself in the head, blood was everywhere.

"I've seen so much here, it's just another horror."
